I believe this book would be of great help if you feel like you and your family are overcommitted.  I found this book to be very easy and quick to read (it took me less than a week reading only 20 minutes at a time and not even every day for that week)!

Pat on the Back

This book made me feel good because we are doing most of his 7 solutions.  However, I know that this will get harder as the kids get older and want to be involved in more things.

As far as commitments go, we have a time budget and a financial budget.  If an activity doesn’t fit into BOTH budgets, then we do not commit.

Stressed to the Max

If you are completely stressed and at your wits end, and starting to blame your children, then this is a MUST read.  For those who aren’t there yet, this is a good book to read so that you know what to look out for.

I had my husband read the section on Help for the Harried Wife and it was quite a discussion starter.  We talked for quite a while after this!

Quotes

My favorite quotes are:

  • Regular times of quiet and stillness are a spiritual and biological necessity. 11
  • In the child’s case, there is a direct link between superparenting and overprotections, an egocentric perspective on life, and in some cases, a prolonged dependency relationship with parents.  69
