Male vs Female

My daughter turned 3 last week and it got me thinking:

I can’t believe she’s going to be 3, but then part of me was thinking, wow, she’s only three, she seems so much more mature.  She is doing things a lot earlier than her older brothers did.

She:

  • has been potty trained for months now (both my boys weren’t until they were three and a half)
  • seems to naturally notice when someone is in distress and will automatically go over and start comforting (I thought my first was good at this, but she started at a much earlier age)
  • seems more mature
  • is more willing to help (most of the time)
  • tried doing things for herself at an earlier age
  • notices when someones appearance has changed even if it’s a slight change
  • started pretending at an earlier age
  • talked back and was sassy a lot earlier
  • seemed ready to be in organized activities at an earlier age

Since she is my only girl and third in the line up, I don’t know how much of this is just her temperament, how much she has learned from her older brothers, and what is due to her being female.

What differences have you noticed between your sons and daughters?
