Our (new) Summer Routine

Now that we are in the throws of summer, our schedule has changed quite a bit.  I am still a very firm believer in routine and believe that it makes children feel more secure and takes a lot of stress out of life.  I like to think of myself as a middle of the road kind of person, so there are times when we throw the routine out the window or tweak it a little to fit in something special!

I do not have specific times on our routine, it’s more sequential.

Routine

Me up and working out (hopefully)

Me shower

start a load of laundry

kids up and getting dressed

walk to the school for breakfast

playground playtime (when it’s not as hot)!

walk home

brush teeth

morning chores

TV time

unstructured playtime/reading time

walk to school for lunch

shorter playground time

nap time/quiet time (usually 2-3 hours long)

during quiet time I usually:

do laundry

do chores

do school activities with the older boys and then they go back to quiet time

blog/craft/relax

kids wake up/snack time

I start dinner/kids play or watch TV

dinner

after dinner chores

family time/children’s sports

baths

bedtime routine

bed

(One day the kids go to Mom’s Day Out for five hours and one day the kids have swimming lessons during the day)

What is your summer routine?
