My son got this book for his birthday and I love it! My kids and husband are still very resistant to my new diet, so I thought this might help! After he got the book, I had him go through and mark with
the recipes he wanted to try first. Naturally, all of his first picks were in the special treats section, but I was happy to oblige!

What I Like
The parent chapter has a lot of good information. It’s 20 pages long and chalk full of information!
The story portion Eat Like a Dinosaur, is really good. I thought it was a great way to explain things to the kids as to why we are changing the way we are eating!
The pictures are nice.
I love how they have incorporated the key into the entire book. My favorite aspect is the little hands to symbolize how a child can help you prepare the food. I’ve noticed lately that the kids have been very eager to help me in the kitchen. I have also noticed a direct correlation to their willingness to try new food when they have helped prepare it. I have learned to read through the recipe before the kids help. That way I can determine if I want to do any preparations beforehand. For example, we made the Lava Fudge Cupcakes the other day. I have never worked with beets, so I wasn’t very comfortable with what I was doing and I was pretty sure my kids would turn up their noses and not want to help if they knew that was in their cupcakes, so I prepared the beets and the dates before I asked for help. They were none the wiser and all the kids can’t get enough of the cupcakes! 😉 Now that they know the cupcakes are delicious (and I know a tad bit more on what to do with a beet, the next time we make them, I will probably let them see me prepare the beets and the dates).
The section on packing lunches was very informational!
This book has gotten me excited to try making our own candy and going to a farm to pick our our own fruits and vegetables! I am even going to consider trying gardening next year (which is a huge thing for me to accomplish, like my mother, I have an uncanny ability to kill plants, we’ve even been know to kill fake plants (ok, not really, but pretty close))! 😉
Recipes We’ve Tried
*Maple Chicken Salad (I ended up making a double batch of this and it was a great decision because we barely have leftovers. The kids loved it and couldn’t get enough of it!)
*Fool’s Gold (chicken nuggets) (These were a little messy to fix, they were great at first, but then our “batter” got too soggy with the oil and it was a mess after that! These were really good, the best Paleo chicken nuggets we’ve had so far (I love chicken nuggets and these passed my test!)!
*Zucchini Latkes (We’ve made these twice and my kids fight over the last few! It is a must to let the zucchini drain, otherwise they burn!) 😉
*Bacon Mayonnaise
*Lava Fudge Cupcakes (Super Delicious! However, these were a little bit of work, you have to use a total of 3 recipes in this book to make these, but very worth it!)
