What’s Been Going On

As many of you may know, we’ve had a rough start to the year.

Right now, because the kids are still in school close to where we used to live, our schedule is a little different.  I’ve been using the weekends to get caught up on stuff (laundry, freezer cooking, etc) that I have not made blogging a priority.  By the time I’m done with house stuff, I’m worn out.  I used to blog during nap time, however, we typically have nap time at the old house and we don’t have a working lap top I can use, so blogging during that time is not an option right now.  Not to mention, I’ve been taking a lot of naps lately, because we are pregnant again!

I do hope to get back to blogging, but right now, I can’t promise anything.  I do like how I feel when I live intentionally, but I also think that some seasons of life is just about getting through it.  Right now my priorities are my family and making a good home for them.  So, when I can fit in blogging, I will, but it’s definitely on the back burner (along with some other goals I was really thinking about tackling this year!)

I am caught up on laundry, finally had the kids write their thank you notes from Christmas, and I am caught up on letters to my children.

House/Homemaking

The house is not as organized as I’d like it to be, however, I would like to be able to invest money so that I can organize things the way I want to, so for now, one of our garages is a storage shed.  Most of my crafting stuff is still in boxes.

I do have goals to go through about 8 of the boxes this year.

I would like to try and do somethings this year that I’ve never tried before: making homemade cereal, ketchup, bone broth, keifer, yogurt,

, fruit snacks, laundry detergent, and color catchers.

Routine

I don’t plan on committing to too many things because our routine is taking more out of me than I anticipated.  I expected it to be hard, but it’s harder than I thought it would be.  We are not putting the boys in spring/summer sports in order to save time, money, and my sanity.  This year, summer vacation cannot come soon enough!

My husband’s classes are much harder than we thought and looks like it will continue that way until he’s done!  🙁

Since all the kids will be going to new schools and the baby is due around the same time, I am just not really setting too many goals this year.

Speech/Biting Issues

After we moved, I started the process of getting my youngest help with his speech.  He’s almost three and not talking much at all.  Right after we moved, he started biting.  This has been a long process and we’re still not done.  I have another meeting this week to see if he will be starting preschool in the next few weeks.  Really not looking forward to sending my three year old to school yet, but we shall see.  This has been really hard on us and I do plan on blogging about it (mostly things that we’ve tried and attitudes; mine and others) when I get around to it.

Diet

Since I got sick we have not been doing as well as we were on the diet.  When I finally got hungry, I was craving comfort food, basically pasta.  Since I’ve been pregnant I have been craving carbs.  We have been doing a pretty good job of keeping breakfast and dinner carb free, but lunches are a different story.

Many of the issues that I had before have started to come back, however, many of them could also be due to the pregnancy.

Couponing

I really have not been couponing hardly at all since we moved.  There have only been a few times when there was a really good deal, so I printed coupons off online.

Finances

Money is a little tight since we are paying two mortgages and utilities on two houses.  Hopefully our old house will sell soon or we’ll have to look into renting it out.  We knew that things would be tight for a while, but it’s hard to change your mindset and habits when you are used to having more wiggle room.  My husband and I were just talking about this the other day, we feel like we are back in the same place as when we first got our first house.  All I can say is that I’m very grateful that we didn’t push the limits on either house, because if we had, we wouldn’t have even had the opportunity to get our bigger house.

So that’s what’s been going on with me.  Like I said, I hope to start blogging more, but I’m not going to promise anything.  This year we are going to focus on our family and getting as settled as we can.  One day at a time!  🙂
