Getting Ready for the Holidays

I know, some of you are rolling your eyes at me in disgust!  🙂  However, there are less than 80 days till Christmas!  (79 to be exact!) 😉

Halloween

We have already figured out what all of the kids are going to be for Halloween.

My oldest wants to be a helicopter, so we will be making his costume.  We are planning on getting the supplies this weekend.

My second oldest wants to be a shark, so his costume has been ordered and already arrived.

My daughter wants to be a strawberry, so we have asked my mother-in-law to make it.

The baby is going to be a giraffe (the older boys were also giraffes when they were his age, my favorite costume so far.  It’s just soo cute!)

Christmas

I just went through all of the things that we have purchased throughout the year and organized it all.

I took 4 pieces of paper (one for each child) and a pencil into the storage room while I organized the gifts.

On the paper I wrote down everything that we have already purchased for the kids.  I put their stocking stuffers into tubs (one for each child).

Now, I am ready to make our Christmas lists.

Christmas Lists

When I am making our Christmas lists, I collect all of the pieces of paper that I wrote on when I organized what we had and I get the “Gift Idea” sheet from our Homemaking binder.

I then talk with my husband and we figure out what we want to get the kids.  I write these items down on the bottom of each child’s paper.  I really like the idea of each child getting three presents, just like Jesus got.

I then make a list and send it to relatives of things that we would all like for Christmas.

I keep the list of things that I have and still need to get in my purse, so that I have it available if I see something when I’m out and about.

This Year

We already have the kids’ Santa present.  (They are sharing one this year and we got it on sale right before Christmas last year!)

I already have/ordered all of the items for their Christmas Eve present.

I still need stocking stuffers for the three younger children.

I need to purchase 3 presents for the baby, 2 for my daughter and second son, and 1 for my oldest.

How are your Christmas plans going?
