Christmas Colors

I use this interactive chart to teach this lesson.

When I taught preschool, I usually included an interactive chart in our calendar time that correlated with our theme.

This particular interactive chart has a book that the kids finish at the end of the week.

Materials

interactive chart

corresponding book (each page of the book is a line of the chart with the color word omitted and a blank line put in it’s place with an illustration) 1/child

pencils

crayons

Steps

  1. do the interactive chart as a class
  2. have the children go to their seats, get out their pencils and crayons, pass out the books
  3. have the children write their name on their book
  4. turn to the first page and model writing the color word on the blank line and coloring the picture the correct color
  5. have the children do the same
  6. repeat steps 4 & 5 for the rest of the pages of the book
  7. for closure, have all the children read the book with you in unison

Now they have a book they can take home and “read!”

(this specific chart is not in this book, but many of my other charts came from this book!)
