Gearing Up for the New Year
Have you thought about your New Years resolutions yet?
I have made two main goals and one “shoot for the moon goal!” My main goals are to be a better homemaker and to pay a little extra each month on our car payment! My “shoot for the moon” (a goal I do not see happening, but it’s nice to dream, besides, “When you shoot for the moon, even if you fail, you find yourself amongst the stars!”) goal is to pay our vehicle off!
I would love to be a better (less stressed) homemaker. I am trying very hard to get a few of my problem areas in my house more organized before Saturday (we’ll see how well this happens, I was sick on Monday, so I’m already behind and my daughter is on her 8th day of being sick, but we are starting to see an improvement!) If I get these two areas organized, it will make my New Year’s Resolution much easier to accomplish! I would love to be able to feel calm and not embarrassed when company comes over, even if it’s last minute! Now, I am not expecting perfection, let’s be real, I have four children ages five and under, however, I would like for people to be able to go to any room and me not have to apologize!
To make these goals a reality I am getting prepared! In order to pay more on the car, I have already looked at our budget and found $25 that we can put towards this payment. I have asked my husband to find the paper work so that we can reallocate his paycheck! I am hoping that we will be able to put some of the extra money we get from our side jobs, but we cannot count on this money, and this seems to be the way God provides for those moments when LIFE happens (which we are grateful for)! I am also wanting to get more of a handle on our budget and try to find other areas that I fall short in budgeting! I am in the middle of preparing a chart so that I can keep track of our expenses, savings, and payments.
To help with my homemaking goal, I have reviewed my worksheets from Tell Your Time and already downloaded and started to print chore charts from Motivated Moms! I also follow FlyLady to help with motivation! I take what I need from all of these and use them to get the most out of it for my family and our unique situation! I am trying to get more of my crafting supplies organized and I hope to find my desk sometime very soon! They are baby steps, but I’m taking them!
I know it’s “Motivation that gets you started, habit keeps you going” (quote from My Personal Daily Prayer Book). I am hoping I can make these things habits before I lose my motivation. If I do happen to lose my motivation, I can always go back to the sources that I originally got my motivation from: My Personal Daily Prayer Book, A Mother’s Daily Prayer Book, More Than Enough by Dave Ramsey, Tell Your Time, Motivated Moms, FlyLady, and Money Saving Mom! In the weeks to come I will also be sharing with you the quotes I plan to post around the house to keep me motivated as well!
How are your New Years resolutions coming?
