Materials

  • cup
  • balloon
  • rubber band
  • rice
  • copies of page 42

Instructions

  1. play song #17 & 18 on CD
  2. read pages 16-23 in
  3. do the experiment on page 42 in
  4. take turns and allow each child to clap or shout near the cup
  5. send home the explanation sheet
  6. review the 5 senses

Day 2

Materials

  • homemade Senses book
  • crayons
  • pencils
  • white board
  • white board markers
  • timer

Instructions

  1. Play songs #17 & 18 on CD
  2. read and
  3. make a class list of things we hear on the white board (draw a picture and label it with one word)
  4. continue #3 until everyone has had the chance to share their idea
  5. pass out the senses books
  6. model turning to the hearing page, model drawing and labeling
  7. instruct the children to do the same
  8. when the children are finished, have them bring their book to you to check
  9. hold on to the books
  10. when everyone is finished, have the students put their heads down on their desk and close their eyes, set a timer and hide it, give each child a chance to find the timer by listening
  11. review the 5 senses
