We’ve all heard it, in order to receive respect, we must give it.  In my opinion, this is so true when it comes to parenting!  This is a huge deal to me!  As my children have gotten a little older, I have really seen/heard first hand how much our children emulate us!  I just absolutely cringe when I hear  a parent speaking very disrespectfully to their child!  Often times when I hear this, the child talks back to their parent and then the parent gets on to them or thumps them on the head for being disrespectful to them! I have to bite my lip because I really want to tell the parent that the child probably learned it from them! I try very hard to talk and treat my children with respect. They do not always reciprocate, but I do let them know that I don’t like when they talk to me like that and disrespectful talk just drains my energy and I usually do not have any energy to do something that they would like me to do! Most of the time, my children respond respectfully! Remember, what goes around, comes around!
