Shared Bathing
Bathing with Babies
When our children were babies, we found it easier for one of us (me or my husband) get in the bathtub with them and give them a bath. When they were done, then we would hand them off to the other parent.
We did this until each child could easily sit up on their own in the bathtub.
Sibling Bathing
Once the baby could sit up with well, they started taking baths with their siblings. Our kids love playing in the bathtub.
When our oldest was between four and five, I started to get really uncomfortable if he walked in while I was showering or getting dressed. That’s when I knew it was time for him to start bathing on his own (and setting boundaries about walking in on others when they are getting dressed or bathing. He gets to choose, he can take a shower or a bath, but he has to do it alone. Once he started, the other two in line wanted the same privilege.
Our daughter is still only three, so this didn’t last long with her, she prefers to still take baths with the baby.
Good Rule of Thumb
When you or your children start to feel or show signs of modesty and being uncomfortable in situations like dressing and bathing, that’s usually the time to set up boundaries and stick to them! 🙂
