This is a great book if you are interested in Paleo.  I love how she incorporates every aspect of life, because Paleo isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle!

About the Book

She starts out with a brief summary of Paleo.  I found this to be very basic and straight forward.  Since Paleo is a totally different mind set and true facts about food, I think this is a good place to start, but had I read this part before reading

, I don’t know if it would have been convincing enough for me.

She then talks about her life before Paleo and  how to get started.  I just printed off her recommended list from her blog post (I just cut and pasted the list into Word).  Next up is the discussion on the mental mind game, getting the family on board, sleep & stress, kitchen essentials and then moves on to recipes (sections for poultry; beef, pork, & lamb; seafood; veggies & salads; soups, stews, & sauces; egg dishes; & snacks, baked goods, & desserts).  I checked this book out from my library, but I will be putting it on my wish list, because so many of the recipes sound and look delicious! She includes a 30 day meal plan and 2 week lunch ideas for kids to take to school. I really liked her ideas on pages 27 & 28 on how to get kids to eat.

I’m so glad she includes the next section in this book, fitness!

Review

I really like that she says that “Anything worthwhile takes hard work …” (p. 15).  I got a kick out of this sentence on page 19 “Thanks to our lovely food pyramid, [which is now called MyPlate] the majority of our country is really sick and out of shape, and by taking away our fat consumptions, we have added on the sugar-free pounds, topped with a nonfat blob of heart disease and a side of diabetes.”  Sad, but true.  I also find it ironic that I just posted my lesson plans on nutrition not too long ago.  I love the second paragraph on page 34 about not stressing about dinner (I love dancing in the kitchen)!

If you’d really like to know about Paleo, and just want the basics and support for the rest of your life, make sure to get this book!
