Autumn 1 & 2

Here are my Autumn lesson plans.  I usually took four days to teach all of this.

 

Autumn T-Chart

Day 1

Materials

  • Autumn/Not Autumn signs
  • clip art cards of autumn and not autumn items
  • real items: jackets, rake, leaves, snow boots, swim suit, apples, pumpkins, umbrella, etc
  • crayons
  • scissors
  • glue

 

Procedure

  1. read
  2. discuss things that are associated with autumn
  3. put the signs on the floor
  4. give each child an item or clip art picture
  5. have each child come up, one at a time, and put their item/picture under the correct sign
  6. pass out worksheet
  7. model doing the worksheet
  8. have the children complete the worksheet
  9. read

 Autumn Weather and Clothing

Day 2

Materials

  • Autumn books, assembled
  • crayons
  • pencils
  • white board and markers or construction paper and markers

Procedure

  1. read
  2. make a list by drawing a picture and labeling with one word about autumn weather changes
  3. make another list (as above) about appropriate autumn clothing
  4. get out the model Autumn book
  5. model writing your name on the front
  6. pass out the books and have the students do the same
  7. model turning to the first page, choosing a weather word from the list, draw the picture and label it
  8. have the students do the same
  9. model turning to the next page, choosing a clothing word from the list, draw the picture and label it
  10. have the students do the same
  11. when the children are done, collect the books
  12. read another Autumn book
