Financial Goal Update

When I wrote this post down on my calendar, we were supposed to have Baby Step #3 completed, however, life happened!

Life

My husband got a new job and we were planning on using the money that he got from his unused vacation to finish off our three months expenses in savings.  However, we’ve had a couple of storms lately.

We had a hail storm and this one (finally) did our roof in, so we now have to pay our $1,000 deductible. Then, (the day after returning from vacation), our peach tree in the backyard got struck by lightening and some of our electronics got fried.  So we now have to pay a $500 deductible for that.

We also knew we had a little cushion, so we went over budget on our vacation a little bit.

Because of all of this, we were not able to put the full amount into savings, so we are short a few hundred dollars.

Plan

I sat down and wrote down our budget for the next month.  The next time my husband gets paid, we should be able to put enough into savings to finish Baby Step #3!

Goals

Our new financial goals are to save:

  • to replace some windows in our house
  • enough for a down payment on a new house
  • enough to pay cash for our next car

I know that all of these goals will take a while to achieve, but we’ll just keep pluggin’ on!  🙂
