Routine Update

Like I’ve mentioned in the past, our routine isn’t a minute by minute schedule that we adhere to.  It’s simply a flexible order of events.  It’s flexible because things don’t always have to happen in the same order every day and let’s face it, life can be unpredictable, and I want to be able to roll with the punches.  This routine will change a little once summer arrives and all the kids are home all day.

I usually wake up around 5:30 AM (but not always).

  • Bible study
  • work out
  • shower
  • children are starting to wake up and help themselves to cereal or oatmeal
  • put laundry in washing machine
  • get baby up, diaper changed, and breakfast
  • I have my breakfast
  • put clothes in dryer
  • margin time: this is time where we play, watch TV, read books, or if we have somewhere to be that day, this is usually the time we are heading out the door for those activities
  • lunch
  • after lunch the baby goes down for a nap, I usually do an activity with the other two: read books, play a game, bake something, coloring, Play-Doh, etc (or they  just play)
  • fold clothes & listen to Focus on the Family or Family Talk broadcast
  • daughter down for a nap, son off to school
  • during nap time, I usually: read, do my 5-10 focus, sometimes do the extra Fly Lady chore, and have my computer time.  If for some reason I don’t get to my Bible Study or workout in the morning, those are first on my list during nap time.  Nap time is usually 2-3 hours long.
  • go get my oldest from school
  • come home, snack time, and start on homework
  • go get my second from school, snack time for him
  • start getting dinner ready while the kids are playing outside, watching TV and finishing up homework
  • dinner
  • activities (sports practices, dance class, etc)
  • home to complete chores
  • bedtime routine
  • after the kids go to bed, I will either watch TV, coupon, have more computer time, pamper myself or read

As of right now, during the day, the kids have Mom’s Day Out and swimming lessons during the day.  However, we usually also have picture or doctor’s appointments and a couple of times a month, we go eat lunch with my husband.

In the evening, we have something every night except for one!  I’m really not found of this, I think it’s too much, especially with my husband being back in school.

The kids take baths/showers every other night and bed time is between 8 and 8:30!
